The scheme "Tiatr Competition for Educational Institutions at Higher Secondary/College/University Level" was launched by the Tiatr Academy under the Art, Culture and Museums Department, Government of Goa. Conditions
- The applicant must maintain adherence to traditional Tiatr format as approved by Tiatr Academy of Goa.
- The applicant must ensure Tiatr duration between 2 to 3 hours including interval of minimum 10 minutes and maximum 15 minutes.
- The applicant must ensure no adverse remarks against any governments, individuals, institutions, or anything against caste, creed, and religion in scripts, lyrics, performances, or speeches.
- The applicant must submit final typed copy of script and songs 3 days before competition commencement.
- The applicant must limit prior performances of the script to maximum 2 shows before competition.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be an educational institution at higher secondary, college, or university level.
- The applicant must ensure Tiatr script is either new or from any script published by reputed Tiatr writers.
- The applicant must ensure Tiatr follows traditional format with 6 to 7 acts with at least 4 cantos.
- The applicant must include comedy linked to the story of the play.
- The applicant must include at least 8 kantaram including 1 duet (interactive), 1 duo (interactive), 1 trio (interactive), 1 quartet/quintet (interactive), 1 choral song, and solos.
- The applicant must ensure not more than 2 shows of the given script have been performed prior to competition.
Exclusions
Musicians can participate in more than one troupe, but other artistes cannot.
Application Process
Offline
Wait for the scheme announcement in local press which will provide details about application deadlines and requirements.
Step 1: During the application period announced in local newspapers, visit the office of Tiatr Academy of Goa and collect the prescribed application form for the scheme.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required). Sign the application form and mention the date.
Step 3: Within the stipulated time period announced in local press, submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to -

Provide refundable security deposit of ₹3,000/- in the form of cash or demand draft in favour of Member Secretary, Tiatr Academy of Goa payable at Panaji along with the entry form. Note that cheques will not be accepted for this payment.

Post-Application Processes
Step 1: Await feedback from Tiatr Academy of Goa within 10 days regarding script scrutiny, suggestions for improvement, or potential rejection if script does not meet format requirements.
Step 2: If more than 15 applications are received, attend the meeting of all applicants where selection of 12 remaining troupes will be done by lots, with first three previous year winners getting direct entry.
Post-Selection Processes
Step 1: Submit final typed copy of script, typed copy of songs (kantaram), cast of the tiatr, summary of songs, and complete list of artistes including technicians and backstage artistes to Tiatr Academy of Goa during office hours 3 days before competition commencement date.
Step 2: Prepare for performance at the place and day identified by Tiatr Academy of Goa, ensuring Tiatr duration is between 2 to 3 hours including interval of 10-15 minutes and follows all prescribed format requirements.
Step 3: Stage the Tiatr performance according to the schedule announced in local newspapers, subject to evaluation by panel of judges appointed by Tiatr Academy of Goa.

- What type of security deposit do I need to submit along with my application, and what are the accepted payment methods for this amount?
- You must furnish a refundable security deposit of ₹3,000/- in the form of cash or a demand draft in favour of Member Secretary, Tiatr Academy of Goa payable at Panaji. Cheques will not be accepted for this payment. <br>

- The duration of the tiatr should not be less than 2 hours and more than 3 hours, including an interval of minimum 10 minutes and maximum 15 minutes. <br>
- Can I use any existing tiatr script for the competition, or are there specific restrictions on the type of scripts that can be performed?
- The script of the Tiatr can be a new one or any script of Tiatr published by reputed Tiatr writers. However, not more than 2 shows of the given script must have been performed prior to the performance at the competition. <br>
- What specific format requirements must my tiatr follow regarding the number of acts and musical components to be eligible for participation?
- The Tiatr should have 6 to 7 acts (podd'dde) with at least 4 'cantos', comedy linked to the story, and at least 8 'Kantaram' including 1 duet, 1 duo, 1 trio, 1 quartet/quintet, 1 choral song and solos, all interactive. <br>
- Will I receive any video documentation of my performance, and what arrangements does the organizing body make for recording the competition?
- Tiatr Academy of Goa will video record all the tiatrs of the competition for preserving them in its Library and for its uses. One copy of the Digital Versatile Disc will be given to the participating institution free of cost. <br>
- What types of financial assistance will be provided to cover the various expenses related to staging the tiatr performance?
- Participating educational institutions will receive financial support as fixed by Tiatr Academy of Goa to meet expenditure towards music (live band with at least two blowing instruments), light effects, stage setting, background music, makeup, costumes, refreshments for rehearsals, and transport. <br>
- What content restrictions must I be aware of to avoid disqualification, particularly regarding sensitive topics or potentially offensive material in my performance?
- There should not be any adverse remark made in any form either written or verbal against any Governments, Individuals, Institutions or anything against caste, creed and religion in the scripts, lyrics of songs, performances, or speeches which may hurt the sentiments of anybody. <br>

- If Tiatr Academy of Goa receives more than 15 applications, a meeting of all the applicants will be called and the selection of remaining 12 troupes will be done by lots. Vacant places will be filled by troupes first on the waiting list. <br>
- What are the prize categories available for individual performers, and do these awards include any monetary compensation for the winners?
- Mementos and certificates (no cash prizes) will be awarded for Individual Artistes Acting with 1st and 2nd prizes for both male and female categories, Best Comedian for both male and female, and Best Singer Solo with 1st and 2nd prizes for male and female. <br>
- Within what timeframe will I receive feedback on my submitted script, and does the organizing authority have the right to reject my application?
- Feedback, if any, shall be provided to the applicant within 10 days. The Tiatr Academy of Goa has the right to scrutinize the script, make suggestions to improve it, and also to reject it completely if found not as per the format. <br>
- What documentation must I provide along with my initial application to demonstrate that my performance meets the interactive kantaram requirements?
- A typed copy of the complete script of Tiatr must be submitted along with the application, and typed copy of lyrics of kantaram should also be submitted to verify the interactive nature of the kantaram. <br>
- Under what circumstances will my security deposit be forfeited, and are there specific conditions that could lead to loss of this amount?
- If any applicant withdraws after the schedule is drawn by Tiatr Academy of Goa, their full security deposit will stand forfeited. Additionally, if disqualified for adverse content, payment may be recalled. <br>
