Launched in 2006, the scheme "Silicosis Financial Assistance Scheme" by the Gujarat Rural Workers Welfare Board, Labour and Employment Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to provide financial assistance to the heirs of self-reliant persons carrying on occupation of Akik who suffer from the serious disease of silicosis in the state, addressing the occupational health hazards faced by workers in the Akik industry. The scheme provides financial assistance of ₹1,00,000/- to the heirs of affected workers as a security measure and compensation for the occupational disease. The applicant must be the heir of a self-reliant person who was engaged in Akik occupation and died due to silicosis disease in Gujarat state. Step 1: The interested applicant should visit the Office of the Government Labour Officer, and request the hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the staff exclusively entrusted to issue and collect filled-in applications.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents, within the prescribed period (if any), to the authority given below -
Office of the Government Labour Officer (Rural) in the case of worker living in rural area.
Office of the Government Labour Officer (Industry) in the case of worker living in urban area.
Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgement from the concerned authority to whom the application has been submitted. Ensure that the receipt contains essential details such as the date and time of submission, and a unique identification number (if applicable).
Step 5: The concerned authorities will verify the submitted documents and establish the eligibility of the applicant as legal heir and confirm the occupational nature of silicosis disease.
Step 6: The board will assess the case to confirm that the deceased was engaged in Akik occupation and that the death was due to silicosis disease as per medical evidence.
Step 7: Upon successful verification and assessment, the case will be processed for approval and financial sanction by the competent authority.
