Under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, children with visual impairments who are affected by 40 percent or more disability and have been issued a disability certificate by a competent medical authority are eligible for the Reader Allowance. The allowance is provided for a duration of 6 months at a rate of ₹250 per month.
