The Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (Watershed Development Component) (WDC-PMKSY) is a modified program derived from the earlier Drought Prone Areas Programme (DPAP), Desert Development Programme (DDP), and Integrated Wastelands Development Programme (IWDP) of the Department of Land Resources. Launched in 2009-10, this scheme aims for optimal resource use, sustainable outcomes, and integrated planning. It is implemented according to the Common Guidelines for Watershed Development Projects 2008. The primary objectives include restoring ecological balance by harnessing, conserving, and developing degraded natural resources such as soil, vegetative cover, and water.
