Details

The Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana aims to develop sustainable models of organic farming by integrating traditional knowledge with modern science. The increasing use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides has led to a rise in harmful substances in the soil and environment, adversely affecting soil fertility and human health. This centrally sponsored scheme has a funding ratio of 60% from the central government and 40% from the state government. It is based on the PGS (Participatory Guarantee System) and cluster approach, requiring all farmers in selected clusters to register on the PGS India portal. Each crop season, local groups evaluate the participation of all farmers to ensure that no prohibited agricultural inputs are used for organic farming. Based on the evaluation reports, summary sheets are uploaded to the portal, and organic certificates are issued by the Deputy Director of Agriculture to the farmers. The implementation of the scheme has been ongoing in all districts since 2018-19, with a financial target of ₹158.10 crores for the year 2020-21. The scheme is cluster-based, covering an area of 20 hectares with 10 to 50 farmers per cluster.
