As of 2018-19, the essential medicine list included 608 medicines, 147 surgical items, and 77 sutures, totaling 832 items. This has been expanded to 1,331 medicines, 956 surgical items, and 185 sutures, totaling 2,472 items. The number of medicines and surgical items has increased in various medical institutions, including medical colleges, district hospitals, community health centers, and primary health centers.
