The scheme “Large Cardamom Irrigation Land Development: Rainwater Harvesting Structures (Nos)” is a component of the Integrated Scheme for Export Promotion and Quality Improvement in Spices and Research and Development of Cardamom, implemented during the 15th Finance Commission period (2021–22 to 2025–26) under the Export-Oriented Production component by the Spices Board, India, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The scheme aims to motivate growers to bring more area under irrigation by supporting the construction of water storage structures, rainwater harvesting systems, and the installation of irrigation equipment, thereby increasing productivity and improving the quality of large cardamom.

Benefits

  • 1. 33.33 % of cost of construction subject to a maximum of ₹18 000 per structure for General and 75% subject to maximum of ₹40 000 /- per structure for SC/ST 1. The above assistance will be for a structure of 200 cu. Mt. capacity lined with silpauline sheet. For lesser capacity the assistance will be limited proportionate to the water holding capacity. 1. Large cardamom growers having land holding size of 0.10 Ha to 8 Ha Devices can be for harvesting water from direct rainfall as well as surface run off without blocking the natural flow of water including streams

  3. The applicant should ensure that the proposed rainwater harvesting or irrigation structure complies with all local regulations and environmental norms.
  4. The applicant should allow inspection by designated officials, who will conduct the final inspection and recommend only eligible cases for assistance.
  5. The applicant should ensure that the Inspecting Officer can verify that no violations of the prescribed conditions have occurred before recommending the case for sanction.
