The scheme “Incentive Policy for Setting Up Community Radio Stations” is implemented by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority under the Department of Disaster Management, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote the establishment and operation of community radio stations across the state, particularly in disaster-prone and remote areas.

Eligibility

Priority will be given to setting up of community radio centres in areas or locations of the district that are not covered by existing community radio stations, as well as in disaster-prone and remote areas.

  1. The applicant organization must have at least three years of experience in Uttarakhand.
  2. The benefits of this scheme are available only for setting up new community radio centres.
  3. The concerned organization must also possess a valid license from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, for operating a community radio centre.

Application Process

Offline

  • To receive applications for setting up community radio stations, the State Disaster Management Authority issues advertisements inviting proposals from interested organizations.
  • 50% of the approved amount is released as the first installment, while the remaining 50% is disbursed upon submission of the utilization certificate.
  • Organizations intending to set up a new community radio station must submit their applications, along with all required documents, to the office of the Secretary, State Disaster Management Authority.
  • Applications for establishing new community radio stations may be submitted at any time during the financial year.
