The “Government Food Science Training Centre” is initiated by the Department of Horticulture, Government of Uttarakhand. It aims to provide specialized education and skill development in food processing, canning, bakery, confectionery, and cookery to students from Uttarakhand, empowering them with technical knowledge and practical expertise to pursue careers in the food industry and promote entrepreneurship.

The state has two Food Department Training Centres that offer one-and-a-half-year diploma courses in Canning and Food Processing, Bakery and Confectionery, and Cookery.
Eligibility
- To seek admission in a diploma course, the candidate/student must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
- For admission to the Canning and Food Processing course, the student must have passed Intermediate (Science/Agriculture) from an institute located in Uttarakhand.
- For admission to other courses, the student must have passed Intermediate from an institute located in Uttarakhand.

Offline
- The applicant/candidate is required to visit the nearest Food Department Training Centre to avail of the benefits.
- Selection of candidates is based on the merit of marks obtained in the Intermediate examination.
