Development of Manures & Fertilizers: Assistance for Construction/Installation of Vermi-Compost Units
5.5/10Farmers in Goa can benefit from a substantial 75% subsidy, capped at Rs. 1,950 per cubic meter, for the construction or installation of vermi-compost units. These units are designed to convert farm waste into chemical-free resources, promoting organic farming practices. The standard cost for a vermi-compost unit is Rs. 2,600 per cubic meter, which includes 90% of the construction costs and 10% for the procurement of earthworms. Eligible farmers must possess a Krishi card and can include individual farmers as well as institutions and private companies engaged in agricultural activities. The subsidy payment is processed through the Electronic Clearance System (ECS), ensuring direct transfer to the beneficiaries' accounts. The units must meet specific construction criteria, including being above ground level and protected from environmental hazards. This initiative not only supports sustainable agriculture but also enhances soil health and resource management in the region.
