The “Self-Help Group” is an initiative under the Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), implemented by the Nagar Nigam Dehradun under the Department of Urban Development, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to empower urban poor women in Uttarakhand by promoting the formation of self-help groups, improving their livelihoods, and supporting them in income-generating and self-employment activities through financial incentives, bank loans, and government subsidies.

Eligibility

  1. The beneficiary must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
  2. The beneficiary must be a woman.
  3. To form a Self-Help Group, the beneficiary must belong to an urban body.
  4. The beneficiary must have an Aadhaar card & one passport-size photograph.
  5. The annual income of the beneficiary's family must be less than ₹3.00 lakh.

Application Process

Offline

To form self-help groups, municipal employees involved in the project visit wards and hold group meetings with women. After the meetings, they encourage women to form groups and a self-help group is then formed.
After formation of the group, a savings account is opened for the group in any nationalized bank, into which the women of the group deposit their monthly savings. The women in the group are encouraged to take up self-employment. Actions for self-employment are carried out at the urban local body level through banks under the CCL (Cash Credit Limit) facility.
