The scheme “Construction of NABARD-Funded Minor Irrigation Projects” is implemented by the Department of Minor Irrigation, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to provide farmers with free and reliable irrigation facilities by constructing NABARD-funded minor irrigation projects, so that water availability improves and farming becomes easier and more productive.

Benefits

  • Under the scheme, farmers will be provided free irrigation facilities. The following works will be undertaken to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers under the scheme:
  • Solar Pump Irrigation Scheme
  • Pipeline / Water Channel (Gool)
  • Water Storage Tank / Geo-lined Tank
  • Construction of Check Dam (Hilly Areas)
  • Small Gated Weir (Plains Areas)

Under the scheme, farmers will be provided free irrigation facilities. The following works will be undertaken to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers under the scheme:

Eligibility

  1. The beneficiary must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
  2. The beneficiary must be a farmer engaged in agricultural activities.
  3. Under the scheme, collective irrigation projects are constructed.
  4. Projects that are beneficial and essential, with a cost of ₹4.00 lakh per hectare and a benefit-cost ratio of more than 1.0, are included.
  5. Check dams are constructed at suitable locations based on the proposals received and the survey conducted.

Application Process

Offline

  • For construction of the project, project's proposal may be submitted to the Division, Sub-Division, or other departmental offices through the Gram Sabha, Gram Panchayat, District Panchayat, or other authorized channels. Based on site inspection and the suitability of the received proposals, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared.
  • After examination by the departmental TAC, the DPR is forwarded to the headquarters. Thereafter, the headquarters submits the proposal to NABARD for financial approval through the government. The construction work of the projects is initiated after receiving financial approval from NABARD.
