The “Atithi Uttarakhand Home-Stay Registration” scheme has been introduced by the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand. It aims to promote rural tourism and generate local employment by enabling residents to register their homes as certified home-stays that offer safe, affordable accommodation and meal facilities to tourists in Uttarakhand.
Benefits
- Under this scheme any house owner in the state who wishes to make the residential rooms of their house available to tourists can register their home with the Tourism Department as a home-stay. After registration the owner can provide night stay and meals to guests and charge a fee for these services. The main objective of this scheme is to offer accommodation and food facilities to tourists and to provide employment opportunities to rural residents at their homes. After registration the respective accommodation is listed on the department’s website under the Home Stay directory allowing any tourist to obtain information from the website and avail night stay facilities

Eligibility
- For registration under this scheme, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) must be issued by the Development Authority/Local Body in urban areas, and by the Gram Pradhan in rural areas.
- The accommodation unit must be entirely residential, and the house owner must reside there with their family.
- There must be at least one and a maximum of six rooms available for guests/tourists.
- The residential unit must have a toilet, should be clean and well-maintained, equipped with fire safety equipment, and built in a structurally robust manner.

Registration for Atithi Uttarakhand Home-Stay has to be done online at https://uttarakhandtourism.gov.in> Trade > Homestay Registration, for which Aadhaar number and the Aadhaar-linked mobile number are mandatory, and during the registration process, the applicant must attach the affidavit mentioned in the application form, PAN card, a copy of the approved building map (plan), photographs of the home-stay (including the home-stay name, room interiors, toilet, and kitchen), a copy of land ownership documents (Khata, Khatauni/Registry papers), the old registration certificate of the Paying Guest House (in case of an old unit), the registration fee - ₹500 through NEFT/online/offline, the character certificate issued by the district administration, and the Fire Department NOC/fire extinguisher bill (as specified by the District Tourism Development Officer).
Thereafter, an inspection is carried out by departmental officers and the registration number is provided to the applicant; Once registered, the owner can offer night stay facilities to guests/tourists by charging the prescribed fee.
