Agro-Processing Cluster Scheme

Brief

The scheme aims at the development of modern infrastructure and common facilities to encourage a group of entrepreneurs to set up food processing units based on cluster approach by linking groups of producers farmers to the processors and markets through a well-equipped supply chain with modern infrastructure.

Eligibility

  • Eligible entities:
  • Agro Processing Cluster Projects can be set up by an entity organization such as Govt. Departments PSUs Joint Ventures NGOS Cooperatives Self Help Groups (SHGs) Farmer Producer Organisation (FPOS) Private Sector Companies Partnership Firms Proprietorship Firms etc.

Notes

  • This is a centrally sponsored scheme that provides grants-in-aid to entrepreneurs for setting up agro-processing clusters that include common facilities such as sorting, grading, packaging, warehousing, etc. The scheme also supports farmer-producer organizations, self-help groups, and cooperatives in the clusters. The scheme has an allocation of Rs. 200 crore for 2020-21.

  • - The Scheme envisages grants-in-aid @ 35% of eligible project cost in general areas and @50% of eligible project cost in the North East States including Sikkim and difficult areas namely Himalayan States (i.e. Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand), State notified ITDP areas, Islands and SC ST entrepreneurs subject to max. of Rs. 10.00 crore per project
