The scheme "Veerjyoti Puraskars" was launched by the Directorate of Women and Child Development (DW&CD), Goa. The scheme aims to recognize the exceptional bravery and fight for dignity demonstrated by women and girls in the State of Goa against atrocities, violence, and harassment. The scheme provides an award consisting of a cash prize of ₹20,000/- and a scroll/citation to two selected persons annually. The applicant must be a woman or girl who has shown exceptional bravery and fought for respect and dignity in society in the State of Goa. The scheme is implemented by the Social Welfare Officer in the Directorate of Women and Child Development.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a woman or girl.
- The applicant must have shown exceptional bravery and courage.
- The applicant must have acted against any type of atrocities, violence, and/or harassment against themselves or against any other woman or girl.
- The actions must have taken place at home, in the workplace, or anywhere in the public domain.
- The applicant must have fought for their respect and dignity in society.

Application Process
Offline
Step 1: The applicant must access the official website of the Directorate of Women and Child Development (DW&CD) and download the prescribed application format for the "Veerjyoti Puraskars" scheme.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents, within the prescribed period (if any), to the Social Welfare Officer of their respective district.
Selection and Review Process
Applications are reviewed and selected by the State Level Selection Committee constituted specifically for the "Veerjyoti Puraskars". This committee includes the Secretary (Women and Child Development) as Chairperson and the Director (Women and Child Development) as Member-Secretary.
Final Conferral of Award
The "Veerjyoti Puraskars" are officially conferred upon the two selected awardees annually on Republic Day, which is held on the 26th of January each year, starting from 2016.
