Details
The scheme "Uttarakhand Shaheed Kosh Anudan" is implemented by the State Sainik Board under the Sainik Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand. It aims to provide financial assistance to the widows/dependents of soldiers and paramilitary personnel who were martyred in wars, border clashes, or internal security operations. Under this scheme, a one-time lump sum grant of ₹10 lakh is provided, subject to eligibility criteria based on the martyr’s family status.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
- The applicant should be a widow or dependent of a soldier or paramilitary force personnel martyred in a war, border conflict, or internal security operation.
Distribution Criteria:
(a) In case the martyr was married:
- Widow (Veer Nari) – 60% of the grant amount
- Parents – 40% of the grant amount
(b) If the parents are not alive, then the full prescribed amount shall be given to the widow (Veer Nari) and where the widow (Veer Nari) is not alive then 40% of the prescribed amount shall be given to the parents and 60% shall be distributed equally among all the dependent children.
(c) In a situation where the parents and the widow (Veer Nari) are not alive, the prescribed amount shall be divided equally among all the dependent children.
(d) In a situation where the widow (Veer Nari) is not alive and has no children, the entire prescribed amount will be given to the parents.(e) In a situation where the martyr is unmarried or widower, the prescribed amount will be given to the parents.
Application Process
Offline
- After obtaining the application form from the District Sainik Welfare Office, the applicant must submit it to the concerned office.
- The following documents are required for the application: Bank account passbook, preliminary report related to war, part-two order of the record office/Director General's office related to the war incident, battle casualty certificate of martyr soldier, relationship certificate issued by the related record office/Director General's office of dependents, discharge book, identity card of dependents, Certificate of non-payment of ex-gratia grant issued by the District Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation Office, Certificate of battle casualty/operational casualty issued by the Director General, Paramilitary Forces (for Paramilitary Forces), Certificate of battle casualty/operational casualty issued by the Director General, Central Armed Police Forces (for Central Armed Police Forces)
- After verification of the applications at the District Sainik Welfare Office level, the approved amount is paid to the applicants found correct through DBT.
