The “Uttarakhand Rajya Shilp Ratna Puraskar” is implemented by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Department under the Department of Industries, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to honour exceptionally skilled artisans of the state for their outstanding contributions to the traditional craft sector.
Benefits
- - Every year, 25 artisans from the state of Uttarakhand are honored with the "Uttarakhand Rajya Shilp Ratna Puraskar."
- Each selected outstanding artisan receives a cash prize of ₹1lakh, along with a memento (symbolic representation), an angavastra (ceremonial stole) and a certificate of appreciation
- Every year, 25 artisans from the state of Uttarakhand are honored with the "Uttarakhand Rajya Shilp Ratna Puraskar."
- Each selected outstanding artisan receives a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, along with a memento (symbolic representation), an angavastra (ceremonial stole) and a certificate of appreciation.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand.
- The applicant must be a skilled artisan.
- The applicant must be at least 45 years of age.
- The applicant must be proficient in traditional or extraordinary art forms and has made unprecedented contribution in the field of traditional crafts.
- The artisans must have contributed to the training of young artisans.
- The applicant must have at least 15 years of experience in a recognized traditional craft.
- The applicant must not be employed in government/semi-government/cooperative institution/union.
Note: Preference will be given to artisans who have received national/state-level awards.

Application Process
Online
- Application forms can be obtained from the General Manager of the District Industries Centres and can also be downloaded from the website https://investuttarakhand.uk.gov.in/themes/backend/acts/act_english1541412900.pdf or viewed on the departmental website https://doiuk.org/mysite/home/. - The application form must be accompanied by the following documents: Aadhaar card, birth certificate or date of birth document, permanent residence certificate, a brief description of the guru/teacher who taught the craft, educational or vocational qualification certificates (if any), details of contributions to the craft, certificates of purchase of craft products, details of training provided to young artisans, information on major exhibitions participated in, details of average monthly income, and information on whether the artisan’s outstanding products have been purchased by museums, temples, or art critics. (Documents related to purchase details must be attached.)
- After completing the form, applicants must submit it to the respective District Industries Centre.
Selection Process:
- Upon the recommendation of the District-Level Selection Committee, constituted under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate, the application forms of outstanding artisans along with the necessary certificates are forwarded to the State-Level Selection Committee, constituted under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of Uttarakhand.
- The State-Level Selection Committee then reviews the recommendations and applications received and finalizes the selection for the Uttarakhand Rajya Shilp Ratna Puraskar.
