Details

The Transport Voucher Facility aims to provide easy access to quality primary education for children aged 6-14 years living in sparsely populated areas where schools cannot be operated as per the prescribed standards. Since the academic year 2017-18, this scheme has been implemented for students from classes 1 to 8 in rural areas. Additionally, to increase enrollment rates for girls in education and reduce the gender gap, girls studying in classes 9 to 12 are also benefitted from this scheme. The transport voucher is provided to students who are enrolled in government schools and live beyond specified distances from their schools.

Eligibility

Students enrolled in government schools in rural areas:

  • For classes 1 to 5: Children living more than 1 km from the nearest government primary school.
  • For classes 6 to 8: Children living more than 2 km from the nearest government upper primary school.
  • For classes 9 to 12: Girls coming from more than 5 km to study in government secondary/senior secondary schools.
  • Girls who have benefited from the free bicycle scheme in any year are excluded from this scheme.
