Selected researchers (JRFs/SRFs/Project Scientists) receive stipends (including HRA) as per the regulations of the respective funding organizations. Researchers are required to make their own arrangements for food and accommodation
  • The program also offers training in Remote Sensing and GIS applications to postgraduate students in their final semester/year of study at various universities across the state, as well as to undergraduate students through internships. The training is free of cost, and students are expected to arrange their own food and accommodation during the training period
  • Capacity-building programs in Remote Sensing and GIS are organized periodically for various line departments based on their requirements. No participation fees are charged from these departments. Boarding and lodging during these programs are arranged by the concerned departments with the support of U-SAC
  • Workshops on Geographic Information Systems are also organized periodically in degree colleges and schools across the state, as per requests and requirements, to motivate students towards space technology. U-SAC provides free one-day training sessions along with complimentary meals and transportation; however, accommodation is not provided

Eligibility

The following are eligible to participate in the Training and Capacity Building Programme:

  1. Students who have passed a Postgraduate degree (preferably in the Science stream) with First Division from any recognized university in India.
  2. Final semester/year postgraduate students (preferably from the Science stream) of any recognized university (private, state, or central) in India.
  3. Personnel from the Central Government and various line departments of the State Government.
  4. Graduate and higher-level students from government, private, and central universities or colleges within the state.

Application Process

Offline

  • If required for a project, information is provided on the U-SAC portal (www.u-sac.in), and selection is made through a walk-in interview within the stipulated period. For this purpose, students are required to submit their postgraduate (first-class) certificates and other academic documents, experience certificates, training certificates, Aadhaar card, bank account details, and caste certificate. Upon successfully qualifying in the interview, the researchers are awarded a research fellowship. - The Vice-Chancellor/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department of the concerned University sends a request letter to the Director, U-SAC, on behalf of the final semester/year postgraduate students (mainly from the science stream) for dissertation/internship at the Centre. Based on this request, and upon receiving the recommendation from the Director, U-SAC, the students are invited for training. For registration, the trainees are required to submit all necessary documents such as Aadhaar card, educational certificates, and mobile number.
  • Departmental personnel may send a request letter to the Director, U-SAC, through their respective Head of Department. U-SAC organizes capacity-building programs for line departments from time to time, in which officers and personnel of various levels, authorized by their Head of Department, participate. In addition, training programs are also organized from time to time on the request of line departments as per their requirements. There is no provision for training for any specific individual.
  • The Principal, Head of Department, or Dean of an institute or degree college may send a request letter to the Director, U-SAC. After determining the duration of the training, U-SAC informs the concerned institution, which may then bring its students for the visit.
