The scheme "PM-Special Training of Geriatric Caregivers" was launched by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India. The scheme aims to bridge the gap in supply and increasing demand in the field of geriatric caregivers, provide more professional services to senior citizens, and create a cadre of professional caregivers in geriatrics. The scheme provides training in four specific job roles: Geriatric Caregiver (Institutional & Home Care), Elderly Caretaker (Non-Clinical), Elderly Care Companion, and Wellness Therapist for Elderly, with an emphasis on physical, mental, and overall well-being of the elderly through a multi-disciplinary approach, including on-job training for specific courses. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment with the help of the National Institute of Social Defence. The applications for this scheme are accepted through registration on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH).

Assessment and Certification The skill assessment is conducted by empaneled Assessment Agencies and a certificate is made available to candidates in physical and digital form along with corresponding & 39;credits& 39; as per the National Credit Framework of MSDE. The assessment fee is provided under the scheme. Re-assessment Opportunity Every candidate is offered one chance of re-assessment free of cost to be borne from the scheme. Placement Support Apprenticeship is promoted and training linked to captive placements (training and placement within the same industry) will be encouraged. Trainees are also encouraged to participate in Rozgar Melas for placement with Training Institutes having tie-ups for proper placement

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a citizen of India.
- The applicant must meet the minimum age as specified in the respective job role.
- The applicant must be less than 40 years of age.
- The applicant must have the minimum education qualification as per the required job roles.
- The applicant must not indulge in any substance abuse.

Step 1:**** Account Registration
Navigate to the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) at https://www.skillindiadigital.gov.in, and click "Register". Provide your mobile number and verify via OTP. Provide your email ID. Set a strong password of minimum 8 characters. Complete the basic registration form and proceed to profile creation.
Step 2:**** Profile Creation and e-KYC
Fill in your complete personal details including full name, date of birth, gender, category, and current address. Enter your Aadhaar number and click "Verify Aadhaar" for automatic e-KYC. The system will auto-populate your basic details and send OTP to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number for final authentication. Ensure all information matches exactly with your Aadhaar card. Upload the required documents in the specified file format and file size.
Step 3:**** Course and Institute Selection
Browse through available geriatric caregiver training courses. Select your preferred training course. Choose up to three empaneled training institutes in order of preference. The system will allocate seats based on availability and your preference order during final selection process.
Step 4:**** Application Review and Submission
Carefully review all entered information, uploaded documents, and selected preferences in the application preview section before submission. Read and accept the terms and conditions, scheme guidelines, and declaration. Click "Submit Application" to generate unique Application Reference Number (ARN) and receive confirmation SMS and email.
Post-Application Processes
Step 1:**** Verification and Selection
The application verification (15-30 working days) by Project Appraisal Committee under Joint Secretary of DoSJE. Selected candidates receive training institute allocation, batch schedule, and joining instructions through registered communication channels.
Step 2:**** Training Enrollment and Support
Report to assigned training institute as per schedule provided in selection notification with original documents for physical verification. Complete the free training program. Upon successful completion, receive government-recognized certification.
