The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has introduced the “Inland Waterways Authority of India Internship Scheme” to provide exposure to students on the development of Inland Waterways Transport in India. The scheme enables young academic talent to understand IWAI’s functioning, contribute through research, analysis, and report preparation, and gain practical experience. Interns are provided working space, required to use their own laptops, and must submit a report and declaration of secrecy during the internship. A certificate is awarded upon satisfactory completion, with an intake of 10 Undergraduate and 15 Postgraduate/Research interns for each year.

Benefits

  • - Remuneration: Stipend @ ₹10,000/- for Undergraduates and ₹20,000/- for Post Graduate/ Research Scholars per month will be payable on satisfactory completion of their internships. Note: 1. Last month& 39;s remuneration shall be provided on submission of their Report/paper. 1. Interns will be eligible for remuneration equivalent to the number of days of attendance in the office against the total number of working days in that month
  • Experience Certificate: A certificate regarding the successful completion of the Internship shall be issued by IWAI in the enclosed format in Annexure-B of the Scheme Guidelines. Note: 1. The certificate will be issued upon the submission of their Report/paper and its evaluation by the Director/ Director-In Charge level officers in their concerned Division. 1. Internship is neither a job nor any assurance for job in IWAI. 1. No accommodation will be provided to interns. 1. The internship may be terminated by IWAI by giving one month notice in case the performance of the candidate is not up to the mark. 1. Interns not completing the requisite period as stipulated in their offer will not be issued with any certificate

Eligibility

  • The applicant should meet any of the following conditions:
  1. The applicant should be pursuing or have completed a Graduate or Postgraduate degree from a recognized university (national or international).
  2. The applicant, if applying as a Graduate student, should have secured at least 75% marks in Class 12.
  3. The applicant, if applying as a Postgraduate student, should have secured at least 60% marks in Graduation.
  4. The applicant, if applying as a Research Scholar, should have secured at least 60% marks in the Postgraduate degree.
