The scheme “Study in India Programme” has been launched by the Ministry of Education under the Department of Higher Education, Government of India. The scheme aims to position India as a global education destination by providing international students with a single centralized digital platform, access to quality institutions, and end-to-end admission and visa support for pursuing higher education in India.

Scheme Implementation

The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs through the Study in India portal.

Eligibility

  1. The applicant should be a foreign national seeking admission in India.
  2. The applicant should have completed the required qualifying education as per course norms.
  3. The applicant should apply through the Study in India portal.
  4. The applicant should possess a valid passport.
  5. The applicant should meet academic and language requirements of the chosen institution.
  6. Indian nationals are not eligible under the Study in India Programme.
  7. Admissions outside the Study in India portal are not covered.

Application Process

Online

To join the Study in India programme, the applicant needs to ‘Register’ on the website and apply to the institutes of your choice and preference. All applicant need to do is follow the ‘6 Steps to Study in India’ which are:

Register Here: The applicant must register on the Study in India portal for the current academic year by creating a user account.
Plan Your Budget: The applicant should assess and plan the estimated expenditure, including tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, and other related costs.
Submit Application: The applicant must select the preferred course and institution and submit the online application through the portal.
Check Result: The applicant should check the portal for the allotted course and institution based on merit and preferences.
Prepare for Departure: The applicant should complete admission formalities and begin preparations for travel and study in India.
