Launched in 2003, the scheme "Study Abroad Scholarships" by the Tribal Affairs Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh covers tuition fees of 40,000 US Dollars per year, along with a living allowance of 9,000 US Dollars and a contingency allowance of 1,000 US Dollars. To be eligible, students must have passed the graduation final examination with at least 55% marks for postgraduate studies, and the postgraduate examination with at least 50% marks for Ph.D. The scheme provides scholarships to Scheduled Tribe students for pursuing higher education abroad.

Eligibility
- The applicant should be 35 years old as of 1st January.
- The applicant should have an annual income limit of ₹10 lakhs.
- The applicant should meet the course duration requirements:
- Postgraduate – 2 years
- PhD – 4 years
- Research – 1 year 6 months
- The applicant should have the following educational qualifications:
- For Postgraduate: Must have passed the graduation final examination with at least 55% marks.
- For PhD: Must have passed the postgraduate examination with at least 50% marks.
- The applicant should choose the foreign educational institution for admission independently.
- The applicant should be applying for a postgraduate or higher-level degree.
Application Process
Offline
Step 1: The interested applicant should visit (during office hours) the Tribal Affairs Department Headquarters, Bhopal, and request the hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the concerned authority.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents, within the prescribed period (if any), to the authority.
Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgement from the concerned authority to whom the application has been submitted. Ensure that the receipt contains essential details such as the date and time of submission, and a unique identification number (if applicable).
