Stipend for Girls

The Stipend for Girls scheme aims to integrate girls with special needs studying in classes 1 to 12 in government schools into mainstream education. It focuses on enhancing their inherent capabilities, providing educational and therapeutic support, eliminating discrimination, fostering positive societal attitudes towards them, and raising awareness about their rights and abilities. Under the annual action plan for the 2020-21 session, the stipend is provided to girls with special needs enrolled in government schools from classes 1 to 12 to ensure their enrollment, retention, and improvement in educational quality.

Girls studying in classes 1 to 12 in government schools who are affected by disabilities defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, in 21 categories, such as orthopedic, visual, hearing impairments, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and autism, with a disability of 40% or more, and who have been issued a disability certificate by a competent medical authority.
