The scheme "State Awards to Teachers" by the Directorate of Education, Government of Goa aims to celebrate the unique contribution of the finest teachers in the state and honor those who have improved the quality of school education and enriched students' lives. Through this scheme, ten state awards consisting of ₹100,000 and a citation each are provided to teachers across different categories including Primary, Secondary, High School Headmasters, and Higher Secondary levels. The applications for this scheme are accepted by hand or email. The scheme is implemented through a two-tier selection process involving District and State Selection Committees.

NOTE: Out of the 10 awards, 2 awards are reserved for differently abled teachers/Special Educators/Head of schools. Special Educators are allowed to apply for State Awards under the category of Sr. No. 1 & 2.
Eligibility
- School teachers, special educators, and Heads of Schools working in recognized government or aided primary/middle/high, and secondary schools. In-service teachers shall have to fulfil the required academic and professional qualifications as per cadre for the State Award to Teachers.
- The retired Teachers are not eligible for State awards. In-service teachers shall have to complete at least 5 years of regular teaching service as of 30th June 2019 after probation in the State of Goa only and are eligible for the State Award to Teachers.
- Those teachers who are due for retirement for the year to which the State Awards relate are not eligible for State Awards to Teachers.
- In case, no sufficient, suitable and eligible teacher/ Head of the Institution/Special Educator is available in that particular category, then it shall not be binding on the government to grant an award.
- The teacher/Head of School should not have indulged in tuition.
- Only regular Teachers and Heads of Schools will be eligible.
- Contractual Teachers, Para teachers, part-time instructors and NSQF instructors will not be eligible.
- There shall be no vigilance /criminal case pending against the applicant.
Application Process
Offline
Step 1: Visit on the Official website of the Directorate of Education, Goa. The prescribed format of the application form is available on the website.
Step 2: The interested applicant should take print of the prescribed format. In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: The duly filled and signed application form, completed in all respects, shall be submitted (in pdf format) using the link "Application for State Teacher Awards (2023-24)" on the website within the prescribed period. The supporting documents need not be uploaded.
Step 4: The hard copy of the duly filled and signed application form along with the self-attested documents, CV and a write-up of 1000 words should be submitted in a sealed envelope to: Office of the Directorate of Higher Education, SCERT Building, Porvorim. The applicants should mention the following on the top of the envelope "Application for State Teacher Awards Scheme".
NOTE: The teachers who have been already awarded the State Teacher Awards for Excellence in Higher Education previously are not eligible to apply again. Applicants who were not able to make it for the State Teachers Award - 2018 in previous years will be automatically considered for the on going Academic Year.
