Details

The Startup Program is designed to support entities that develop innovative business models and aim for commercial success. According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Union Ministry for Commerce and Industry, an entity can be classified as a Startup for up to ten years from its incorporation or registration date. This includes private limited companies, partnership firms, and limited liability partnerships registered in India. The entity's turnover must not exceed one hundred crore rupees in any financial year since its incorporation. The program encourages innovation, development, or improvement of products, processes, or services, and supports scalable business models with high potential for employment generation or wealth creation. However, entities formed by splitting or reconstructing existing businesses are not considered Startups. The iStart initiative is sector-agnostic, focusing on innovative solutions in various fields including social and clean-tech, mobile and information technology, and disruptive technologies.
