Details
The Shri Annapurna Rasoi Yojana aims to provide nutritious meals to the needy at a nominal cost. In the budget announcement for the year 2022-23, the number of kitchens was increased from 358 to 1000, with an allocation of ₹250 crores to serve 9.25 crore meals annually. Due to the scheme's popularity, the number of kitchens will be expanded to 2000 in rural areas as announced in the 2023-24 budget. Beneficiaries can enjoy a wholesome meal for just ₹8, with the state government providing a subsidy of ₹22 per meal. The scheme targets to benefit 2.30 lakh individuals daily and 9.25 crore people annually. The meals include 300 grams of chapati, 100 grams of dal, 100 grams of vegetables, and 100 grams of rice or millet khichdi, along with pickles. The operation of the kitchens will be decentralized, allowing district-level committees to select locations, menus, and meal timings as needed. The scheme also allows for real-time online monitoring and feedback from beneficiaries.
