Details

The Shauchalaya Sahayata Yojana is a scheme by the government of Uttar Pradesh, India, to provide financial assistance to registered construction workers to build toilets in their homes. The scheme was launched in 2017 as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, a national campaign to eradicate open defecation in India.

As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, aiming to make both rural and urban areas of the state open defecation free is a commendable yet challenging task. This is particularly true for construction workers, who often come from underprivileged backgrounds and lack the financial resources to build toilets at home. The Shauchalaya Sahayata Yojana addresses this issue by providing financial assistance to registered construction workers engaged in building and related activities. This support empowers them to construct toilets in their homes, contributing to the state's goal of eradicating open defecation.
