Details
Launched in 2009, the scheme "Sero Positive Illness Scheme" by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat aims to support the education of children affected by or born into families impacted by Sero Positive illness. Through this scheme, financial scholarships and support for school uniform, books, tuition fees, food, and hostel expenses are provided to destitute and orphaned children across education levels—from primary school to postgraduate studies. The scheme is implemented by the Director, Social Security Department, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar, and at the district level, by the District Social Security Officer or District Child Protection Officer.

Eligibility
- The applicant should be a child affected by Sero Positive illness or should have one or both parents who are Sero Positive.
- The applicant should be a student.
- The applicant should be studying in any following standard:
- Standard 1 to 5.
- Standard 6 to 10.
- Higher Secondary Class-11 and 12.
- B.A./B.Com./B.AC. and equivalent degree courses.
- Degree courses like B.E., B.Tech., LLB., MBA and equivalent courses as well as Diploma courses in Medical and Ayurvedic and Homeopathic courses.
- Postgraduate level courses like M.Sc./ M.Phil./ LLM./ M.Ed./ M.B.A. etc.
Application Process
Offline
Step 1: The interested applicant should visit the office of the District Social Security Officer or the District Child Protection Officer and request a hard copy of the prescribed application form for the Sero Positive Illness Scheme.
Step 2: In the application form, the applicant should provide all the mandatory details and attach self-attested copies of all the required documents, including Aadhaar Card, Birth Certificate, Civil Surgeon’s Certificate, and other supporting documents.
Step 3: The applicant should submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the supporting documents to the District Social Security Office or District Child Protection Office.
Step 4: The applicant should request a receipt or acknowledgement from the concerned authority to whom the application has been submitted for future reference.
