Details

The "Scheme to Provide Electric Scooter to Disabled Person" is a welfare scheme by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department of Gujarat. The scheme aims to promote mobility and independence for orthopedically disabled individuals in Gujarat by offering a financial subsidy. The beneficiary can purchase an electric scooter through an agency approved by JEDA. After verification, the financial assistance amounting to ₹25,000 (or 50% of the scooter and kit cost, whichever is lower) will be directly deposited into the beneficiary's bank account.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a resident of Gujarat.
  • The applicant must be between 18 to 50 years of age.
  • The applicant must have an orthopedic disability of 40% or more, certified by a civil surgeon.
  • The applicant must possess a Disability Identity Card issued by the Social Security Department.
  • The applicant must be listed in the BPL (Below Poverty Line) category with a score of 0 to 20.
  • The applicant must not have already availed benefits under this scheme in the last five years, unless the previously allotted electric scooter is damaged and the applicant remains otherwise eligible.
  • The applicant must purchase the electric scooter from an agency approved by JEDA at the government-approved price.

Note: The applicant will be given priority if their name appears in the SECC-2011 (Socio-Economic Caste Census) data.
