The "Scheme of Financial Assistance to New Writers of Gujarati Language and Literature for Publishing Original Works of Creative and Fine Literature" has been designed to encourage first-time authors who lack financial means to publish original and high-quality creative works in the Gujarati language. Administered by the Gujarat Sahitya Academy, the scheme provides grants to cover partial printing costs for eligible manuscripts. Works eligible for assistance include novels, short stories, essays, poetry, and plays that promote cultural awareness, national unity, and intellectual development. The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and reviewed positively by expert evaluators.
Benefits
- Financial Assistance:
- For manuscripts with up to 112 pages: Up to ₹10,000/-.- For manuscripts exceeding 112 pages: Up to ₹15,000/-. Printing Size Guidelines:
- For “Crown” size: ₹2,100/- (paperback), ₹2,200/- (hardcover).- For “Demy” size: ₹2,300/- (paperback), ₹2,500/- (hardcover).- For “Double Crown” size: ₹2,700/- (paperback), ₹2,800/- (hardcover). Note: The lower of the printing cost or the above ceiling will be granted as assistance

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a first-time writer in the Gujarati language and literature.
- The manuscript must be an original literary work such as a novel, play, essay, poetry collection, or autobiography.
- The manuscript must not be edited work or related to non-literary subjects.
- The applicant must not have received more than five grants from any language academy affiliated with Gujarat Sahitya Academy.
- The manuscript must be typed, bound, paginated, and submitted in two copies.
- The applicant must not change the title, content, or format after submission without written permission from the Academy.
Note: Only one application per financial year is allowed per author.
