Details
The Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG) was launched on June 1, 2018, to create a supportive environment for the self-development of adolescent girls aged 11-14 years who are out of school. The scheme aims to educate, empower, and make these girls self-reliant and aware citizens. It provides nutritional and non-nutritional services through Anganwadi Centers across the state. The nutritional component includes the provision of supplementary nutrition, while the non-nutritional services encompass health check-ups, life skills education, and guidance on accessing public services. The scheme is particularly significant in improving the nutritional and health status of these girls, especially during the global crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, where take-home rations are provided in lieu of cooked meals.
