The scheme "Research Fellowship Scheme for Scheduled Tribe Candidates" was launched by the Tribal Area Development Department, Government of Rajasthan. The scheme aims to support the Scheduled Tribe candidates from Scheduled Areas and the Saheria Project Area to register themselves as research scholars with all recognized Central/State/Deemed/Private University located in any part of India for pursuing Ph.D. Programme. Under this scheme, monthly fellowships and contingency grants are provided to tribal research scholars enrolled in Ph.D. programmes at recognized universities across India. The scheme is implemented by the M.L. Verma Tribal Research & Training Institute, Udaipur.

Benefits

  • Financial Assistance:
  • The selected scholar shall be paid @ ₹15,000/- per month
  • A contingency grant of ₹40,000/- shall be given to the candidate for meeting the recurring expenditure viz. books/ Journals/Traveling/Stationery etc. Tenure: The tenure of the scholarship shall be for a period of maximum five years from the date of sanction from the Tribal Research Institute or completion of Ph.D. whichever is earlier. Extension of Fellowship Term & Final Payments: The scholarship term shall not be extended under any circumstances. If, per chance, the candidate fails to complete his/her Ph.D work within the period of five years, the final installment of scholarship (equivalent to six month and last installment of contingency) shall be withheld until the Ph.D. is awarded to the candidate

Eligibility

  1. The applicant should be a native of Rajasthan.
  2. The applicant should belong to the Scheduled Tribe community.
  3. The applicant should be a resident of Scheduled Area of Rajasthan or a resident of Shahbad and Kishanganj tehsils of Baran district (Saheria Project Area).
  4. The applicant should have completed Post-graduation with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
  5. The applicant should be registered in a recognized Central/State/Deemed/Private University in India for pursuing a Ph.D. programme.

Application Process

Offline

Application Process:
Step 1: The interested applicant should contact the M.L. Verma Tribal Research & Training Institute, Udaipur and request a copy of the prescribed format of the application form and collect filled-in applications.

The interested applicant downloads the application form from the official website.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the Supervisor, Head of Department, and Dean of the institution.
Post-Application Process:
Step 1: The Screening Committee (comprising Director, Dy. Director, a nominated representative, and Associate Professor of TRI) will evaluate the applications based on faculty-wise merit and conduct personal interviews.
Step 2: Final selection will be based on overall competence and recommendation of the committee.
Note: Submit the completed application in the month of July, when the notification is released through newspapers and the departmental website.
