Reader Allowance

The Reader Allowance scheme aims to integrate children with special needs, particularly those with visual impairments, into mainstream education from classes 1 to 12 in Rajasthan. The initiative focuses on enhancing their inherent capabilities, providing educational and therapeutic support, eliminating discrimination, fostering positive societal attitudes, and raising awareness about their rights and abilities. Under the annual action plan for the 2020-21 session, students affected by visual impairments in government schools are eligible for a monthly reader allowance to support their educational journey.

Children with visual impairments (Blindness and Low Vision) defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, with 40% or more disability, who possess a disability certificate issued by a competent medical authority, studying in classes 1 to 12 in government schools.
