Details
The Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, prohibits the giving and receiving of dowry. To effectively implement this act, the state government has appointed district dowry prohibition officers in all 33 districts, including district collectors, deputy directors, assistant directors, and district probation and social welfare officers. The main dowry prohibition officer is responsible for the administration and coordination of activities related to dowry prohibition as per the notified rules of 2004.
