The Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to students from Backward Classes (BC) and Most Backward Classes (MBC) in Tamil Nadu. The scheme offers tuition fee support for students studying from 6th to 10th standard in English medium schools. For students in 6th to 8th standard, the tuition fee is Rs. 200 at the rate of Rs. 20 per month for 10 months. For students in 9th and 10th standard, the tuition fee is Rs. 250 at the rate of Rs. 25 per month for 10 months. Additionally, the examination fee is fully sanctioned for 10th standard students. The scheme has specific eligibility criteria, particularly concerning the income of the parents and educational background of the family.

Eligibility

- For Backward Classes students:
- Parental income should not exceed Rs. 1,00,000.
- No graduate in the family.
- Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities students have no specific conditions.
