Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. The programme focuses on developing infrastructure and providing basic amenities such as schools, health centers, hostels, community halls, drinking water, sanitation and skill development facilities in Minority Concentrated Areas (MCAs).

The objective is to reduce development gaps by improving access to education, healthcare, housing, and livelihood opportunities for minority communities. PMJVK promotes area development and social inclusion through need-based infra development in collaboration with State Governments, District Authorities, and Local Bodies.

Eligibility

The projects under PMJVK can be proposed in the identified areas as approved and certified by the SLC (where the minority population is more than 25% of the total population in the catchment area - 15Km radius).

The State Level Committee (SLC) shall consider viability af all the projects before recommending the projects to the Ministry. The proposed projects should be sustainable and clear provision should be made by the State Government/ UT Administration regarding the recurring cost and maintenance / operationalization cost as well as manpower requirement, so that there is no such problem once the infrastructure project has been completed.


Exclusions

The scheme does not provide direct cash assistance or individual financial benefits. Activities such as recurring administrative expenditure, personal subsidies, or programs unrelated to infrastructure or community development are excluded from the scope of PMJVK.


Application Process

Online

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) is implemented through State Governments, District Level Committees (DLCs), and local implementing agencies. It is not an individual application-based scheme.

Proposals for projects are submitted by State/UT Minority Welfare Departments or District Authorities based on identified gaps in Minority Concentrated Areas (MCAs) on PMJVK portal. These proposals are examined by ministry and further approved by the Empowered Committee at the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.

After approval, funds are released to the respective State/UT Governments or implementing agencies for execution of the projects.
