Partial Travel Support Scheme

The Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology & Environment (HIMCOSTE), has a scheme for providing partial travel assistance to deserving bright young Scientists and Research Scholars working in an academic or research institution located in Himachal Pradesh for participating in a National/ and International Conference/ Seminar/ Symposium/ Workshop held within India or abroad.
The scheme does not provide assistance towards lodging, boarding, maintenance, registration fees, taxi fare and other costs

Partial Coverage: The scheme provides support for a portion of the total travel expenses incurred by the beneficiaries.

Financial Assistance: For international travel, the scheme offers support up to a maximum of Rs. 60,000/- or 60% of the total travel expenses, whichever is lower. This financial assistance helps offset a significant portion of the travel costs for international trips.

In-Country Travel Support: For travel within the country, the scheme provides a maximum support of Rs. 10,000/- or 60% of the total travel expenses, whichever is lower. This assistance helps beneficiaries cover a portion of their travel costs within the country.

Flexibility: The scheme allows beneficiaries to utilize the financial support as per their travel requirements, be it international or in-country travel.

State Council Support: The State Council is responsible for providing the specified travel support under this scheme, ensuring that beneficiaries receive the designated financial assistance.

• Educational Qualification: The applicant should have passed at least M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech/MBBS or an equivalent degree from a recognized University/Institute.
• Age Limit: The applicant's age should not exceed 40 years on the date of commencement of the Conference/Seminar/Symposium/Workshop.
• Paper Acceptance: The applicant's paper should have been accepted for presentation. The application must include a copy of the full paper, an abstract, the schedule of the conference, and an acceptance letter from the organizer.
• Previous Travel Support: Scientists and Research Scholars who have not received travel support under PATSS in the previous three years are eligible for consideration.
• International Reputation: The Conference/Seminar/Symposium/Workshop should have an international character and repute. Applications to attend annual meetings of professional societies will not be considered.
• Publication Requirement: Scientists and Research Scholars must have published at least one paper in a refereed journal to be eligible for consideration.
• Forwarding of Application: The application, along with all necessary documents, should be forwarded through the proper channel from the Head of the Institution.
• Application Deadline: Complete applications should reach the office one month before the event takes place.
• Research Paper Reprint: The Scientist/Research scholar sanctioned travel grant under the scheme is required to provide one reprint of the research paper presented at the Conference/Seminar/Symposium/Workshop after its publication.
• Notification of Selection: The applicants recommended by the Committee/Experts will be informed of their selection via email or post, using the email ID provided by the candidate.

Offline

Obtain and Fill Application Form: Obtain the application form for the PATSS scheme. Complete the application form and provide your bio-data as required.

Attach Essential Documents: Ensure that the following essential documents are properly attached and tagged with the application:

One copy of the completed application form and bio-data.

Degree certificate (proof of eligibility).

Date of birth certificate.

Copy of the letter from another national or international agency committing to bear partial travel costs.

Detailed letter of invitation from the conference organizers.

Abstract of the paper you will be presenting at the conference.

Certificate from the concerned airline indicating the cost of return airfare by economy class via the shortest route

3. Check for Completeness: Double-check that all the necessary documents mentioned above are properly attached to the application. Incomplete applications will not be entertained.

4. Submit the Application: Send the completed application, along with the required enclosures, to the Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology & Environment (HIMCOSTE) at least one month prior to the commencement of the conference. The application must be forwarded by the Head of the Institution.

5. Selection Process: The HIMCOSTE will review the applications and communicate the decision about one week before the conference's commencement. No interim correspondence will be entertained.

6. Commitment Letter and Reimbursement: If selected, the HIMCOSTE will issue a commitment letter agreeing to provide the support. The committed amount will be reimbursed to the scientist upon their return to India after participating in the conference. The scientist must submit a detailed report, a copy of the air ticket, etc., within two months from the conference's date.
