The scheme “Out of Turn Employment to Sportspersons in State Services” was launched by the Department of Sports, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to provide job opportunities to medal-winning sportspersons of Uttarakhand, who have represented the state in international and national games, by offering them out-of-turn employment in various state services.

- Under this scheme, medal-winning players from Uttarakhand who have represented the state in International or National Games are provided out-of-turn employment on Gazetted and Non-Gazetted posts (from Level-3 to Level-10) across various government departments

Eligibility
- State players/sportspersons who have won gold, silver, or bronze medals in international or national games, such as the Olympic/Paralympic Games, World Cup/World Championship, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Championship, Commonwealth Championship, SAF Games, and National Games, are eligible under the scheme.
- Players/sportspersons participating in any of the following sports will be considered eligible: Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Canoeing & Kayaking, Cycling, Diving, Equestrian, Fencing, Football, Golf, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Lawn Tennis, Shooting, Rowing, Sailing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Baseball, Chess, Cricket, Kabaddi, Karate, Kho-Kho, and Mallakhamb.
- The player/sportsperson must be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand.
- The player/sportsperson must have represented the state of Uttarakhand in the National Games in the year and competition for which they are applying for employment.

Application Process
Offline
- As outlined in Government Order No. 728/VI-3/2023-33(7)2014, dated 14.09.2023, the Sports Directorate will receive vacancy details from the relevant departments and publish advertisements in newspapers to recruit eligible athletes. Upon receiving applications directly from the Director, Sports Directorate, the committee will review the applications and submit its recommendations within two months.
- The Sports Department will forward the committee’s recommendations to the respective departments. Selected medal-winning athletes will be appointed to supernumerary positions by the relevant department within four months.
- For employment, athletes must possess the minimum educational qualifications required for the position. However, the committee may consider granting exemptions or relaxations for medal-winning athletes regarding mandatory or preferred qualifications. If a medal winner does not possess the required educational qualifications at the time of appointment, the department will allow the athlete up to four years to acquire the necessary qualifications.
- Medal-winning athletes must submit their applications to the sports offices within two years (for seniors) and three years (for juniors) after achieving their success. Applications must include the completed form along with the medal-winning certificates, Aadhaar card, and permanent residence certificate.
- Medal-winning athletes from 10 years ago and 5 years ago will be eligible to apply within 12 months from the date of issuance of this Government Order.
