The scheme “Organising Sports Competitions and Training Camps” was launched by the Department of Sports, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote sports at the grassroots and state levels by providing structured training, organizing competitions, and developing sporting talent.

  • - The department conducts local training camps in all districts for various sports, including football, athletics, boxing, volleyball, hockey, badminton, cricket, wrestling, kho-kho, karate, kabaddi, wushu, taekwondo, basketball, handball, ju-jitsu, table tennis, lawn tennis, baseball, and sepaktakraw, with training provided at minimal fees
  • The department operates Sports Colleges and Sports Hostels for sports such as football, athletics, boxing, volleyball, hockey, badminton, judo, and cricket, with admission provided at minimal fees
  • A prize of ₹500/- is awarded for securing first position and ₹300/- for securing third position in state-level sports competitions

Eligibility

  1. The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
  2. The applicant must be a player aged 8 to 16 years.
  3. In the case of amateur players, the applicant must be above 16 years of age.

Application Process

Offline

  • To conduct local training camps in all districts, the District Sports Officer’s office issues a notice in daily newspapers in March to publicize the district-level camps. Applications are received offline and must be submitted to the District Sports Officer’s office. Selection trials are conducted annually in April and May.
  • For admission to Sports Colleges and Sports Hostels, preliminary selection trials are held at the district level. Successful candidates then undergo final trials at the state level, and admissions are granted against vacant seats based on the merit list.
  • Direct paid admission is available for local training camps conducted at the district level and for amateur players.
