Under this scheme, a one-time financial assistance/annuity is provided to serving or ex-servicemen who have been conferred with the “Gallantry Medal Award.” In the event of martyrdom or death of the soldier, the grant is extended to the eligible family members or dependents.

The scheme “One-time and Annual Financial Grant to Soldiers Awarded with Gallantry Medals” is implemented by the State Sainik Board under the Sainik Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand. Under this scheme, a one-time financial assistance/annuity is provided to serving or ex-servicemen who have been conferred with the “Gallantry Medal Award.” In the event of martyrdom or death of the soldier, the grant is extended to the eligible family members or dependents.
Benefits
- - A one time grant of maximum of ₹50,00,000/- and minimum ₹4,00,000/- is given
- Annual financial assistance of a maximum of ₹3,00,000/- and a minimum of ₹40,000/- is given
- A one time grant of maximum of ₹50,00,000/- and minimum ₹4,00,000/- is given.
- Annual financial assistance of a maximum of ₹3,00,000/- and a minimum of ₹40,000/- is given.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand.
- The applicant should be a serving soldier, an ex-serviceman, or in the event of martyrdom/death of the soldier, an eligible dependent.
- The soldier must have been conferred with a “Gallantry Medal Award.”
- In case of martyrdom or death of the soldier, the following dependents are eligible to apply:
- Veer Nari (lifelong or until remarriage)
- Son (up to 25 years of age) / Daughter (till marriage)
- Parents
- Unmarried sisters
- Brother (up to 25 years of age)
Exclusions
Application Process
Offline
- After obtaining the application form from the District Sainik Welfare Office, it must be submitted to the concerned office.
- The following documents are required for the application: Aadhaar Card of the applicant, PAN Card, Photocopy of bank passbook and cancelled cheque, Identity card of the dependent (if the applicant is a dependent), Domicile certificate of Uttarakhand, Photocopy of the gazette notification regarding the award of the gallantry medal, Affidavit (on ₹10 stamp paper) declaring that the applicant has not received, and will not receive in the future, the one-time grant/annuity payable on the gallantry medal from any other state, Photocopy of discharge book (if the applicant is an ex-serviceman)
- After verification of the applications at the District Sainik Welfare Office level, eligible applicants are paid the approved amount through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Under this, the one-time grant is disbursed immediately, while the annuity amount is released annually.
