The Old Age Homes Scheme was initiated in 2015-2016 to provide support for elderly citizens in need. It operates in each district, where old age homes with a capacity of 150 residents are managed by voluntary organizations. The scheme offers free accommodation, food, clothing, medicine, entertainment, and personal care materials to senior citizens above 60 years of age who lack sufficient resources for their maintenance. Eligible individuals include those who are poor or destitute and are willing to reside in these homes. The scheme also prioritizes elderly individuals who come into contact with local authorities and have no arrangements for boarding and lodging.

Eligibility

Senior citizens above 60 years of age, regardless of social class or gender (Female/Male/Transgender), who do not have sufficient resources for their maintenance. Special consideration is given to those recommended by local authorities or public representatives.

  2. Fill in the online application form with required details and upload a photo.
  3. The application will be approved by the committee chaired by the District Social Welfare Officer.

  • Download the application form from Vriddhashram Yojana or obtain it from:
    • District Social Welfare Officer's office
    • Block Development Office
    • Municipal Body Office
    • Directly from the organization running the old age home.
  • Submit the completed form with required documents to any of the above offices.
