The scheme “Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Hostel” is an initiative under the Samagra Shiksha Programme, implemented by the Secondary Education Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to provide free hostel facilities to the children (both boys and girls) aged 6 to 18 years who are enrolled in nearby schools for formal education.
There are a total of 13 residential hostels in Dehradun (Baniyawala, Araghar, Jhadipani, Nabha House- Rishikesh), Haridwar (Alipur, Laladhang, Mohitpur), Pauri (Srinagar, Peethsain), Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar (Gadarpur, Kashipur, Sitarganj).

Eligibility

Free hostel facilities are provided to boys and girls aged 6 to 18 years who:

  • Belong to BPL families or whose family's annual income is less than ₹55,000/-, or
  • Belong to SC/ST/OBC or minority communities, or
  • Have one or both parents deceased, or
  • Are children with disabilities, or
  • Are ragpickers, beggars, or from urban deprived and weaker sections.

Application Process

Offline

  • Before the commencement of the academic session, the Hostel Warden, Block Education Officer, or District Project Officer conducts wide publicity and invites applications for the vacant hostel seats. The application form can be downloaded from the Samagra Shiksha website https://ssa.uk.gov.in/ or obtained from the hostel warden. - For orphan, begging, or ragpicking children, all necessary documents are prepared at the hostel level. For other children, the required documents include the child’s photograph, Aadhaar card, birth certificate, permanent residence certificate, caste certificate, mobile number, Aadhaar card of the parent or guardian, and BPL certificate or ration card in case of BPL families, or an annual income certificate up to ₹55,000/-.
  • All the above documents, along with the application form, can be submitted by the parents or guardians to the concerned hostel. Admission is granted by the management committee after reviewing all the parameters and based on the availability of seats in the hostel.
