Details
The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) was registered as a society on October 27, 2011, under the Rajasthan Society Registration Act of 1958. The Chief Minister serves as the president of the society, while the Chief Secretary heads the empowered committee. The State Mission Director (Livelihoods and Self-Help Groups) acts as the member secretary. All rural livelihood programs in the state will now be implemented under the NRLM. The mission aims to conceptualize effective poverty alleviation schemes and fund them through the state government, central government, and other financing agencies. It seeks to bring effective convergence between government and non-government initiatives for rural development. The mission facilitates the formation and strengthening of self-help groups, producer organizations, community development organizations, and federations of self-help groups. It promotes small and micro enterprises in both agricultural and non-agricultural sectors to enhance the income of the poor. The main objective of the Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika), which is affiliated with the Rural Development Department, is to implement projects and programs related to poverty alleviation and livelihood enhancement for impoverished families in rural areas effectively. The council is working to create a sustainable and effective three-tier community organization structure to empower and make rural women self-reliant. This institutional structure aims to improve access to economic resources for rural women, enhance livelihood opportunities, and develop their social and technical skills to increase their income. The Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika) was established in 2010 as an autonomous body under the Rajasthan Society Registration Act of 1958. The Chief Minister is the president of this society, and the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj is the vice president. The governing council of this society is chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, with the State Mission Director of Rajeevika appointed as the member secretary. The projects operated by the council include the implementation of the centrally funded National Rural Livelihood Mission across all districts of the state. The budget provision for the financial year 2021-22 is set at ₹412.30 crores. The National Rural Economic Transformation Project (NRETP) is also being implemented in 36 blocks across 9 districts of the state, with a budget provision of ₹57.34 crores for the financial year 2021-2022.
