Details
The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act-1989 and its Amendment Act-2015, along with the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules-1995 and Amendment Rules-2016, are in effect to prevent crimes of atrocities committed against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes by individuals from Non-Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The scheme facilitates judicial prosecution of such crimes, establishes special courts, and provides relief and rehabilitation for victims. Financial assistance is provided as per the Government of India notification dated April 14, 2016.
