The scheme “Mukhyamantri Medhavi Chhatra Protsahan Scholarship Scheme (Junior Level)” is implemented by the Secondary Education Department under the Department of Education, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote academic excellence among students entering Classes 6, 7, and 8 by providing financial assistance to meritorious students, based on their performance in a competitive examination conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttarakhand.
Benefits
- Rate of Scholarship:
- For Class 6th Students: ₹600/- per month for 1 year.- For Class 7th Students: ₹700/- per month for 1 year.- For Class 8th Students: ₹800/- per month for 1 year

Eligibility
- The student must have passed Class 5 (institutional) from a Government School or Government-aided private school of the state (excluding Central and Residential schools) and must be studying in Class 6.
- The applicant must qualify in the competitive examination conducted by SCERT, Uttarakhand.
- Based on the examination results, a student securing a position in the top 10% of the total participants will be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.
- The selected student must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance and secure at least 60% marks in Classes 6 and 7. For SC/ST students, a relaxation of 5% is provided in both marks and attendance requirements.
- There is no income criterion for the parents/guardians of the student under this scholarship.
- A student cannot avail double benefits under multiple state scholarship schemes.
Application Process
Offline
- To appear in the scholarship examination, a student can collect the application form from the Block Education Officer’s office or download it from the School Education Department’s website (https://schooleducation.uk.gov.in) or the SCERT Uttarakhand website (https://scert.uk.gov.in/) during the months of June-July every year. At present, the application process is offline, and no application or examination fee is required. - While filling the application form, the student must attach a passport-size photograph, Aadhaar card, Class 5 passing certificate, admission card for Class 6, caste certificate if applicable, disability certificate if applicable, and Aadhaar-linked bank account details. The student must ensure that all information provided in the form is correct and then submit it to the Principal of the school where he or she is studying.
- The Principal verifies the form on the basis of documents and school records, attests the photograph, and forwards the form to the Block Education Officer’s office by the stipulated date, which is usually around 21st August. After verification, the Block Education Officer issues the admit card.
- Students can collect the admit card from their school or from the Block Education Officer’s office. The examination is conducted every year in September in an objective-type multiple-choice format. Students who are placed in the merit list are informed by the Principal, after which the scholarship amount is directly credited to the student’s bank account.
