Details

The scheme "Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana" was introduced by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Bihar, and aims to provide a grant at the time of marriage to girls from BPL and other economically disadvantaged families, to offer financial assistance to their families during the marriage.
Under the scheme, girls are encouraged to complete their education, and upon getting married at the appropriate age, they receive financial assistance from the government. This initiative aims to raise awareness among the public, thereby contributing to an increase in the literacy rate of Bihar. With the introduction of this scheme, the state government has also made a concerted effort to curb social evils like dowry and bring about a positive change in societal mindset.

Benefits

  • - Under the scheme, an amount of ₹5,000/- will be given at the time of marriage of the girl child
  • Under the scheme, an amount of ₹5,000/- will be given at the time of marriage of the girl child.

Eligibility

  1. The applicant should be a girl who is 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
  2. The applicant should be a native of Bihar.
  3. The applicant's family should be Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders.
  4. The annual income of the applicant's family should not exceed ₹60,000/-.
  5. The applicant should be marrying a boy who is 21 years of age or older.
