The "Mukhyamantri Apprenticeship Yojana (MAY)", launched in 2018-19 by the Labour and Employment Department, Gujarat, seeks to create a robust ecosystem for skill development through "on-the-job" and "off-the-job" training. The scheme aligns with national initiatives like the "National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)" and the "National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS)", targeting to engage 1 lakh youth in apprenticeships. The scheme provides additional incentives for employers beyond the benefits under NAPS and NATS.

Eligibility

  1. The applicant must be a resident of Gujarat.
  2. The applicant must be at least 14 years old (18 years for hazardous trades).
  3. The applicant must meet the minimum educational qualification specific to the trade.
  4. The applicant must be a minimum 5th pass-out.
  5. The applicant must satisfy the physical fitness standards prescribed for the trade.
  6. The applicant must not have been engaged in any similar apprenticeship program previously.
