The “Minority Scholarship Scheme for Class 1 to 10” was launched by the Minority Welfare Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to provide scholarships to students belonging to minority communities who are studying in Classes 1 to 10 in any recognized government/non-government educational institution in Uttarakhand.

Benefits

  • At present, the State Government provides the following monthly scholarships for students from Class 1 to 10:
  • Class 1 to 5: ₹50/-- Class 6 to 8: ₹80/-- Class 9 to 10: ₹120/-

Eligibility

  1. The applicant must belong to a minority community (Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Parsi, Buddhist, or Jain).
  2. The applicant must be studying in Classes 1 to 10.
  3. The applicant must be enrolled in a recognized government/non-government educational institution in the state of Uttarakhand.

Application Process

Online

  • Minority community students studying in Classes 1 to 10 can register at any time through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP 2.0) at https://scholarships.gov.in. Registration requires an Aadhaar number and an Aadhaar-linked mobile number. - During registration, students provide basic information such as their name, parents’ names, and educational qualifications. Upon successful registration, a student ID and password are generated.
  • For applying to the scholarship, the department publishes advertisements in newspapers or on the NSP portal, inviting online applications within a stipulated period.
  • Students must log in using their registered ID and password or register if not already done, and select their school or institution during the application process.
  • While applying, students are required to upload mandatory documents, including educational certificates, Aadhaar card, bank account linked with Aadhaar, permanent residence certificate, self-declaration certificate of minority community, income certificate, certificate of studying in school, and a passport-size photograph. In addition, offline copies of these documents must be submitted to the school or institution for verification.
  • Once submitted, the application reaches the school’s Institute Nodal Officer (INO), who verifies the documents and forwards the application to the State Nodal Officer (SNO). The SNO then forwards the applications to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India after a random selection process (2% of applications).
  • If all documents and eligibility criteria are verified and found correct, the scholarship amount is directly transferred to the student’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
