The scheme "Mahila Nursery Yojana" was launched by the Department of Forest, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote nursery establishment by providing women's groups with high-quality seedlings or saplings from certified sources, along with a fixed grant, technical support, and training to ensure effective nursery operations. Department also purchases the plants grown by women in these nurseries on a contract basis.

Eligibility

  1. The applicant must be a Women Self-Help Group, Mahila Mangal Dal, or a Local Women’s Group from Uttarakhand.

Application Process

Offline

  • Women Self-Help Groups, Mahila Mangal Dals, and local women’s groups will be registered at the Divisional Forest Rights Office. Women farmers will be provided with a copy of the nursery manual and technical guidance for developing the nursery.
  • For registration, the following documents are required: Khatauni of the proposed nursery site, proposal of the women’s group meeting, mobile number, Aadhaar card, and bank passbook.
  • Once the saplings in the nursery are ready, the Forest Department purchases them species-wise from the group as per the agreement between the Self-Help Group and the Forest Department.
  • After the group purchases the necessary materials for establishing the nursery, the Department releases the grant in installments into the account of the Self-Help Group.
